How to Get Traits in Creatures of Sonaria
Nested guarantees, the 66-stop, and why tokens are legal here but fatal for Glimmer.
Traits are the hexagonal icons on a stored slot. They are not mutations. Mutations are helix cosmetics and a few hitbox skins. Traits are the stat pair you hover in Trade Realm when someone asks for a fighter. A nested baby that lives to the milestones is guaranteed two trait rolls: the first around age 66, the second at age 100. A menu-spawned creature can roll traits and often rolls none. If you want a specific pair, you nest. If you cannot nest yet, read how to nest first.
The two-account loop
The standard farm uses two Roblox accounts on two windows, or one trusted friend.
- Nest account: female adult of the species you are hunting. Place the nest with B (or the action wheel). Equip Eggshell or a nest-upgrade plushie if you have one, plus Octroma if you also want cosmetics on the hatch. Keep that adult fed. A starved nester drops the structure.
- Hatch account: your main. Request the egg. Grow the baby.
- At age 66, stop. Read the first hex. If it is wrong, delete or replace the slot immediately. Do not gift yourself a two-hour walk to 100 on a first trait you already hate.
- If the first hex is right, continue to 100 for the second roll. One growth tick after a token skip still assigns the trait.
- Wrong pair: wait for the next egg. Twenty to forty attempts is a normal unlucky streak, not a broken nest.
Death on the grind slot breaks the nested guarantee if you restart that same life. A new egg is a new contract. Hide scent. Sit in a pocket from how to survive. Do not nest on a Summer Paradise objective.
Tokens are allowed (for traits)
Partial and max growth tokens do not ruin trait odds. They ruin growth mutations. Use tokens when the screenshot is a hex pair and you do not care about Glimmer or Glowtail on that slot. Use two partials to hit 66 cheaply, then decide whether a max token is worth the second roll. Natural growth is for the mutation farm. Mixing the two goals on one slot is how people waste a week.
Aerix shortens age. It does not pick the hex. Octroma boosts mutation chance, not trait chance. Do not buy a second Octroma hoping the pair changes. Shooms for tokens come from how to get Shooms or from selling a finished pair. Codes almost never hand a trait; they hand palettes.
What to hunt
Hover every icon. If a trader will not let you hover, leave. Fighters want damage, weight, stamina, or ailment pairs that match the kit on the PvP list. A pretty mutation on a dead hex pair is a screenshot, not a closer. Beginners should finish a species from the beginner tier list before they burn forty eggs on a Tier 5.
Menu spawns are for playing, not for hunting. If you only need to learn the diet, spawn from the menu and use the diet checklist. Save the nest for the slot you intend to keep or sell.
When the farm fails
- First trait never appears: the baby was not nested, or it died and you restarted the same slot.
- Second trait missing: it died between 66 and 100.
- Same hex forever: RNG. Change nothing except the egg.
- Nest gone: 100 HP. KoS, flood, or a hungry nester. Rebuild in a quieter biome.
- You token-grew and expected Glimmer: that is the other page. Traits can still roll. The popup you wanted cannot.
Store a pair you like before you experiment with plushies. Event weeks add extra mut pools and extra traffic. The hex logic does not change because the sky is gold. Once you have a pair worth keeping, stop rolling that slot. The next egg is for the next project, not for ruining a finished fighter because a thumbnail said one more try.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers players ask after a wipe, a death, or a new event.
Do nested Creatures of Sonaria always get two traits?
If the nested slot lives through the age-66 and age-100 rolls, yes. A death and restart on that life removes the guarantee. A new egg starts a new guarantee.
Should I use growth tokens while trait hunting?
Yes if you only want the hex pair. Tokens skip growth mutations. Use the 66-stop so you do not max-token a bad first trait.
Are traits the same as mutations?
No. Traits are hex icons on the slot. Mutations are helix cosmetics. Octroma helps mutations. Nesting is what guarantees traits.
